Fennel Seed

Is a member of the carrot family.  All parts of the plant are edible and aromatic.  The seeds have a "black licorice" or anise aroma and taste and are used for scenting soaps and perfumes and for flavoring candies, liqueurs, medicines, and foods, particularly pastries, sweet pickles, and, sausages and fish. Great in stews and soups to add depth.
