Lanolin is a natural product obtained from the wool of sheep after sheering. Lanolin is greasy and yellow. It is made from the sebum of sheep which use it to condition their wool. Lanolin has been used for centuries by various cultures in skin ointments.
Due to its high fat content, lanolin is occlusive. This means it prevents the evaporation of water from the skin, which keeps skin moisturized and helps the skin repair itself.
