Blackened Seasoning

Blackened Seasoning

Blackened cooking originated in New Orleans over 30 years ago. Traditionally done with your protein being coated in oil and your blackened seasoning blend. An iron skillet and a drizzle of oil the protein dropped in the hot skillet flipping only once - after it is blackened on the bottom. This gives a great texture and flavor to your dish!

  • Blackened Chicken: Rub the blackened seasoning blend generously onto chicken breasts, thighs, or wings before grilling or pan-searing. The combination of herbs and spices will create a flavorful crust when cooked, giving the chicken a bold and aromatic taste.

  • Blackened Fish: Use the blackened seasoning to season fish fillets such as salmon, tilapia, or catfish. Coat the fish evenly with the seasoning blend before cooking in a hot skillet or on a grill. The spices will form a delicious crust on the outside of the fish while keeping the inside tender and moist.

  • Blackened Shrimp: Toss peeled and deveined shrimp in the blackened seasoning blend before cooking them in a hot skillet with a bit of oil. The seasoning will add depth of flavor and a hint of heat to the shrimp, making them perfect for tacos, salads, or pasta dishes.

  • Blackened Vegetables: Coat sliced vegetables such as bell peppers, onions, zucchini, and eggplant with the blackened seasoning blend before grilling or roasting. The spices will enhance the natural flavors of the vegetables and add a savory kick to your favorite veggie dishes.

  • Blackened Tofu or Tempeh: Press tofu or slice tempeh and coat them with the blackened seasoning blend before pan-frying or grilling. The spices will infuse the tofu or tempeh with flavor and create a deliciously seasoned exterior.

  • Blackened Burgers or Steaks: Mix the blackened seasoning blend into ground beef or steak seasoning before forming patties or seasoning steaks. Grill or pan-sear the burgers or steaks to create a flavorful crust on the outside while keeping the meat juicy and tender on the inside.

  • Blackened Potatoes: Toss diced or sliced potatoes with olive oil and the blackened seasoning blend before roasting in the oven or cooking on the grill. The seasoning will coat the potatoes evenly and add a savory and aromatic flavor to this classic side dish.

Choosing organic spices can offer several potential benefits, including:

Avoiding Pesticide Residues: Organic spices are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or herbicides. By choosing organic, you reduce your exposure to potentially harmful chemical residues that can remain on conventionally grown spices.

Preserving Soil Health: Organic farming practices focus on maintaining soil health and fertility through techniques like crop rotation, composting, and natural pest control. This helps to preserve the long-term viability of agricultural land and promotes biodiversity.

Supporting Sustainable Agriculture: Organic farming methods typically have lower environmental impacts compared to conventional agriculture. By choosing organic spices, you support farmers who prioritize sustainability, conservation, and ecological balance.

Reducing Environmental Pollution: Organic farming practices minimize the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, which can contribute to water pollution, soil degradation, and harm to non-target organisms. By opting for organic spices, you indirectly contribute to reducing environmental pollution.

Potential Health Benefits: Some studies suggest that organic foods may contain higher levels of certain nutrients and antioxidants. Additionally, avoiding exposure to synthetic pesticides may have potential long-term health benefits

Taste and Flavor: Some people prefer the taste and flavor of organic spices, attributing it to factors such as soil quality, growing conditions, and the absence of synthetic additives. While taste is subjective, many individuals find that organic spices have a more vibrant and nuanced flavor profile.
